Senior girls make it four from four and sail into the Connacht semi final

It is with great pleasure that we can report that the senior ladies footballers follow in the success of the junior footballers and also make it out of the group stages. They have proved themselves to be a dominant force throughout the competition, and today following their 4th outing and 4th decisive win they see themselves, deservedly, through to a Connacht semi-final.
In today’s game, they met Ballyhaunis at home in the Dunmore GAA pitch. Dunmore dominated the possession but unfortunately, a few shooting chances went a begging. Instead, it was Ballyhaunis who started off the scoring with a well-worked goal. Dunmore were sure to respond and it wasn’t long before they got on the scoreboard but again missed several chances. Halftime saw us 2-9 to 2-3, a lead, but not at all comfortable.
A strong start to the second half saw us again dominate possession but this time more decisive between the uprights. Some excellent passages of play saw girls adjusting to different positions, great support work and well-worked scores. Indeed the wide tally was happily reduced in the second half as we got into the rhythm of the game. Ballyhaunis were not going to take it lying down and rallied on forcing our defensive forces to respond.
In the second half, we pulled away and took the game with a convincing win. The final score was 3-17 to 3-6. While we mourn our lost chances, we must commend the girls on their adaptability and willingness to play in different positions and take on new roles, especially as we were missing some of our usual starting players to injury. These girls have continued to do us proud and we know there is more in the tank. We cannot wait to see these girls in full flight playing to their potential. We wish them all the best with their preparations for their Connacht semi-final, which we anticipate will be in 2 weeks, and we wish all our injured players a speedy recovery.
A special word of thanks to our sponsors Knightbuild.
