Junior Girls’ Football vs. Ballygar

Luckily storm Callum wasn’t enough to deter a determined Junior girls’ football team in the second match of their campaign. A challenging first half against a persistent wind and a strong forward line from the opponents had our girls under pressure from the start forcing us to sacrifice a forward for a sweeper. 6-3 to 5-3 to our opponents at half time saw us a goal down and but offered us a chance to regroup and refocus.
The second half offered us a fantastic display of football with excellent performances from Dunmore C.S. all over the field. True grit and determination saw an epic battle in the back line and clever runs and passes in a depleted forward line allowed for some tremendous scoring up front. Our midfield duo never let us down as they linked both ends with some excellent support play in backs and forwards. But no one player could be singled out as it was pure effort and team work that earned us a well deserved comprehensive win over Ballygar. A special commendation must be given to our talented bench of impact subs who brought fresh legs and drive to the pitch with plenty more talent ready and willing to do their part thus making the job of choosing only 15 players more and more difficult.
The final whistle blew with the score reading 9-11 to 7-8 in our favour. A beautiful end to the school week and a promising lead into their next challenge versus Boyle in two weeks. Well done ladies!
