Historical Rugby Games for Junior and Senior Girls
It was a historical occasion for our school this week with our girls participating in their very first rugby match for the school. For many of the girls, this was their very first game and they have only being training for a few weeks. Claremorris are a very experienced side and have been playing at club and school level for a few years, so our contest was going to be very tough. Our girls put in a great effort and grew with confidence as the games went on. Connacht player Ella Burns led by example in the senior game. They were ably assisted by the tenacious tackling by Rebecca Noone and surging runs by Katie Slattery. Ella Burns used all her strength with her crunching tackles and turned over many balls. Alicia Costello made great runs through the middle which resulted in a try. Our Juniors also battled hard. Amy O’Connor was inspirational with her runs and tackling. Mary Concancon was superb with her tackles. Holly Jordan & Maria O’ Brien scored two great tries. We are so proud of all the girls today and they are looking forward to their next game. Many thanks to Austin, Devon, Dave and Donal from the Dunmore Rugby Club for all their coaching and support. We really appreciate it.
