U14 girls get off to fantastic start

Congratulations to our U14 girl footballers who started off their competition with a good win over Ballygar. Considering that today was the first time we saw many of the girls in action for Dunmore CS on the pitch, we could not be prouder of the team performance and the sheer grit and determination given on the pitch. A limited panel of 17 was no deterrent to the girls and although some were playing in positions they would not generally be accustomed to, they stood up to the mark and shone in these roles.
Ballygar started off the scoring with a fine point while we took a few minutes to settle, however, it was not long before the Dunmore CS girls got into a rhythm and started notching up their own tally. Halftime saw Dunmore CS in a comfortable lead of 3-6 to 2 points.
The second half saw some challenges thrown our way. A foot block led to a sin bin, meaning we were reduced to 14 versus 15 for 10 minutes. The girls repositioned well to counteract this and ensure our defense remained strong. Injuries further led to more changes and the lack of numbers saw us reduced again to 14 girls for the last few minutes but this still did not phase the girls and indeed they endeavoured to finish strong. Some fantastic individual performances coupled with a strong team ethic made this a very enjoyable game to witness. A very encouraging start to the year. The final score was Dunmore CS 4-11 to Colaiste Mhuire’s 1-5.
We could not be prouder of all the girls involved. Well done girls
