Senior Girls Soccer defeat Glenamaddy in final game.

Our Senior Girls created history this week by winning our very first soccer match in school. We played St. Paul’s in our first game and we played well considering it was our first game in the Senior competition. However, we lost 3 -O. We knew we had the potential to play much better and we were really motivated to put in a good performance against Glenamaddy Community School. Glenamaddy had already beaten St. Paul’s 3-0 so we knew we would have a tough game on our hands. From the tip-off we were in control and constantly had them under pressure. At half time, the score was 0-0 but were were unlucky for a few chances. In the second half we piled on the pressure. Rebecca McGrath was excellent in goal and her kick-outs were superb.  Isabelle Murray, Nadine Donelon, Shanaz Saman and Shannon Kilgarriff controlled everything in the backline. Katie Slattery and Rebecca Noone put in great tackles in the centre. Sarah Cosgrove and Lily Kearney gave great ball inside to our forwards. Megan Healy and Eva Daly were super in attack, constantly putting their defense under pressure. Megan Healy score two fantastic goals. It was bittersweet as even though we defeated Glenamaddy, they go through on score difference. Our first year team and U15 team will start their matches after Christmas. Many thanks to Shanaz Saman and Sarah Cosgrove for all her help with coaching and organising the gear for our games. Subs: Aine Nicklin, Erika Diskin, Amy O’ Connor.
