Dunmore CS Flag Day 2022

Each year on the eve of St Patrick’s Day, the Thomas F. Meagher Foundation Annual flag day takes place giving schools the opportunity to celebrate active citizenship and industry in their school by raising the Irish flag. It also promotes pride and respect for the Irish flag and it’s true meaning for peace, recognising the new and more inclusive Ireland. Thomas Meagher was an Irish Patriot, US Army General and Governor of Montana. He was the first person to raise the tricolour on March 7th 1848 at The Mall in Waterford. The raising of the flag symbolises a coming together to create a community of hope for Ireland’s future. Dunmore Community School students took part in the raising of the flag ceremony on the eve of St. Patrick’s day 2022.
