Well done to all our students who took part in the Connacht U16 Badminton Championships in Galway. Congrats to our girls team who defeated Strokestown in the final. It has been a great year for the girls in particular winning the U19 B & C & now the U16. Our U19’s will play in the All Ireland finals on Wed 9th March in Gormanstown Co Meath. (MG)
Transition Year students along with Ger Brady from Bank of Ireland, Dunmore have set up a school bank. Students can open an account for €5 and the school bank will be open every Thursday at lunch time. Once 50 accounts are opened, account holder names will be entered in a draw for an I Pad! To be in the draw, make sure you open an account! Karl comer and James Quinn (transition year) have qualified as green school ambassadors 2016. In partnership with Irish water this programme focuses on the water theme of the green schools programme. They attended a workshop today which included speakers in the field of engineering, talks from the green schools and clean coasts programmes. They were also given a tour of the Terryland water treatment plant. Both students received certificates today. Now time to implement all of this new knowledge into DCS😀 ( ABrogan)
Transition Year Students attended the ‘Think Twice Road Safety Awareness Show for Teenagers’in Leisureland Galway. This show was organised by Galway County and City Council and featured the Garda Siochana, the Fire and Ambulance Service and an A&E Consultant. A survivor of a road crash and a family member of a road fatality spoke to the students about their experiences. It was a most informative and graphic show and highlighted the consequences of careless driving.
