U19 Girl’s Basketball Semi-Finals

Huge congrats to our U19 Girl’s Basketball team who reached the semi-final stage in the Regional league. We came up against a very experienced Colaiste na Coiribe side who have many club city players. Our girls worked so hard but it wasn’t our day. Well done to all girls involved and be proud of getting so far in the competition and all your efforts.

Well done U16 Basketball Girls Team

Huge congrats to our U16 Girls Basketball team who had a convincing win over Glenamaddy in the Regional Semi-Finals hosted by our school last Thursday. A fabulous display of structured defence secured the girls’ rightful place in the Regional Final later on that same day. Our girls battled till the bitter end against a very strong St. Nathys side but it wasn’t meant to be as the opposition coming out on top. The top 2 teams in the region get to All-Ireland playoffs and we are so proud our girls qualify after all their hard work and the very best of luck to you all!

Senior Boys Basketball final

Best of luck to our senior team who play CBS Ennistymon in the West Region Final tomorrow in Ballinfolie Castlegar Neighbourhood Centre at 11am. This is a repeat of last years Final & we hope to bring home the cup two years in a row. This is a talented group of lads & they had a great win over Spiddeal in the semi final.

Junior girls football

Our Junior girls travelled to Ballyhaunis this week to play the 3rd round of the competition. Ballyhaunis had won their two previous games & the girls knew it would be a really tough game. The girls had a slow enough start but when they settled into the game they began to play very good football. It was a great battle with both teams taking the lead at different stages in the game. In the dying minutes we were two points down when Eimear Glynn kicked a high ball in to the net. We battled hard to hold onto the lead until the final whistle. The girls were delighted with the win!

U16 and U19 Girl’s super double triumph over Presentation College Headford

Well done to our U16 and U19 girl’s coached by Ms.Canny who had great victories over Presentation College Headford today. These wins secures their rightful place in the Regional Semi-Finals/finals on Thurs 28th November. U16s were slow to get started but by the 3rd quarter, their fast break abilities and aggressive defence shone to finish with a scoreline of Dunmore 45 Headford 26. Special congrats to our topscorer Mairead Glynn who scored 32 pts over the 2 games! The U19 girl’s worked so hard with some fabulous basketball for all to watch today finishing Dunmore 42 Headford 35. Best of luck U16s who take on Glenamaddy and U19s who take on Colaiste no Coiribe in finals hosted by DCS!

Juvenile boys football vs Davitt College Castlebar

Wednesday saw our Juvenile boys top their group after their final game and subsequent win making it three from three. In horrible conditions and unable to play anywhere aside from the astro pitch in Bekan, Dunmore CS juvenile boys took on Davitt College, Castlebar. Luckily, the rain which was a relentless downpour all morning gave us a brief respite to coincide with our game. From the throw in, Davitts secured the first score with a net breaking goal, however, Dunmore soon responded with beautiful passing in the front line allowing, new to the squad first year, Niall Heneghan to hit the back of the net three times in succession. Colm Costello soon added 2 more goals with Colm(3), Robert(1), Padraig(2) and Ruairi(1) tipping over the points. Davitt were not to be easily dominated and did respond with some threatening passages of play, even winning and converting a penalty in the dying minutes of the first half. Half time saw us 10 points clear at 5-7 to their 3-3. Second half saw some changes and some unfortunate injuries resulting in a need to alter our approach. However, this did not slow us. While Davitt College were yet again getting some lucky breaks and had one or two players that were lethal in front of goal adding another 4 goals to their tally along with 2 points, our lads hit back with another 5 goals and 6 points to end with a lead of 17 points clear in the end. We saw some excellent support play, use of space and beautiful passing to produce these scores with many adding to the tally. Colm secured another 3 goals and 2 points, Robert hit the back of the net as well as popping two over in the second half, while new to the field, Sean Carr did trojan work and earned himself 2 points for his efforts. To sweeten the deal Colm set up a beautiful goal which Eanna Callanan ensured found its destination just before the final whistle. Our forwards produced the goods on the day but they were ably assisted with some excellent defence work. Eoin, Christoper, Dylan, Finian, Basil and Frank did some fantastic work back there with support from Oisin in a sweeper role who had a fantastic game, resulting in several possessions being overturned. Goalie Marcus made some spectacular saves ensuring we kept our lead. Special shoutout to our subs who fit into the team excellently when they hit the pitch. In particular, Sean and Eanna who added to the scoring tally while Avey and Jack did superb work in the backline, with Glenn and John ably assisting the runs up the field. Final score Dunmore CS 10-13, Davitt College 7-5. As we progress out of the group we now hit into knockout stages which commence in early December. We hope that we are able to sustain our winning ways. Well done lads.
