While the works are progressing on the inside, we decided to give the school entrance a little tidy up by felling the tree and removing the old canopy before the new doors and windows are fitted in the next few weeks.
Thanks to Mr Fleming & Mr Gannon (two past students, who were more than willing to help with the demolition) and to Brendan Gildea for his assistance in the safe removal of the porch.
Best wishes to Kathy (KiaXin He) who has now returned to her home in China after spending three months with us here in DCS. During her time here with us, she had the opportunity of learning our culture, our language and attending classes. It was a pleasure to have had her with us.
Also, safe travels to our 2nd-year student, Hannah Kenny, who has now travelled back to China on a reciprocal exchange with Kathy for the summer. I hear Hannah is thoroughly enjoying experiencing Chinese culture, learning some of the Chinese language and she has already visited the Great Wall of China.
Well done to all the students, staff and parents of our school on another successful year in DCS. This was, yet again, a year of outstanding academic performances, excellent attendance achievements and remarkable extra-curricular successes. We were delighted to welcome our special guess, Mr Joe Healy, IFA President, to present awards to some of our students to acknowledge their excellence in various areas of school life.
Special thanks to the students, staff, parents and the broader community of Dunmore for all the support, help and commitment they have given to our school throughout the year. I hope you are all enjoying the lovely weather and the break from school. D.Quinn,
Thanks to Ms Colleran for all the photos and captions. Apologies for the delay in posting these photos.
During our building works a little issue of 30 or 40 thousand bees caused a small delay in the fitting of our external lighting. As much as we would love to have left them in their natural hive, the position of it was unsuitable. They have now been carefully removed and are happily located in a much more suitable location and home!
We are delighted our planning permission application for 30m2 of Photovoltaic Panels has been granted by Galway Co Co, During the summer these panels will be fitted to the south facing roof of our building to further enhance our green energy rating.
