Parents Council Annual Fun Table Quiz

Our Parents’ Council are holding a Family Fun Table Quiz on the 6th Dec at 7:30 pm in the school. Please come along for a great night out with lots of fun, prizes and great craic. Our Quiz Master for the night is Mr Ollie Turner. Lots of spot prizes on the night – those that attended last year can testify to this.
Special thanks to all the local businesses that have so generously sponsored spot prizes for the night and to our Parents’ Council for organising this event. A Table of 4 is only €20.
Our Parents Council have put a lot of hard work into organising this quiz, so please come along and support them and your school. Please remember, all funds raised are to improve the school for all our students. Please spread the word and get your friends to come along to what has proven to be a fantastic fun night, that everyone who attends enjoys immensely.

Michael Flatley Retires from DCS

Congratulations and best wishes to our Caretaker, Michael Flatley, who retired today from Dunmore CS after 34 years of tireless service to our school. We wish him all the best of health and happiness for the future and thank him sincerely for his dedication and commitment to our school and for always being there for us all – staff, students and parents.

Also, best wishes to John Ryan who has taken over as our caretaker. We wish him all the best in his new role.

7km Forest Walk/Run

Our 4B class travelled to Ballygar recently with Ms Grehan to take on the challenge of a 7km run organised by the Transition Students in St.Mary’s Secondary School, Ballygar. It was a really enjoyable scenic run. Aryn Kenny was the first finisher from Dunmore Community School and ran a great time of 31 minutes.

Senior Boys Basketball qualify for Finals

Our Senior team had a fantastic win over St. Raphael’s Loughrea to reach the West Region final. This was a really tough game and a “must-win” for both teams. The game was very tight throughout but Dunmore pulled away in the last quarter. The Seniors will travel with Ms Grehan to Ballinfoyle Community Centre on Wednesday to take on a very experienced side from Ennistymon.

Safe Pass Course

Well done to 20 of our Senior students who did a Safe Pass Course in school recently & all passed with flying colours. Safe Pass Training Courses are mandatory under the construction regulations 2013, The Safe Pass training programme is for construction site personnel working at any type of construction works.

Christmas Bingo 2018 – Sunday the 2nd Dec @ 3:00 pm

The annual Dunmore Christmas Bingo fundraiser is being held in the Dunmore CS Sports Centre this Sunday, the 2nd December @ 3:00 pm. Doors open at 2:30 pm. This year, the funds raised will be divided between Temple Street Children’s Hospital and the purchase of a defibrillator for Dunmore CS.

As you are probably well aware, each year, Mary Mullin, a past student of the school, organises this fantastic fun event and everyone that attends has a great time. We would like to thank Mary, and all the sponsors of the event, for their generosity and kindness in organising and running this event every year.

Each family has been given a sponsorship card, and we would appreciate if you could please return the card before Thursday, the 29th Nov.

If any students or parents would like to help out on the day with baking goodies for the interval or helping serve tea they are more than welcome to assist. Please contact Mary Mullin to let her know you are available. Baked goods, buns etc can be dropped in on the day from 12:30.

Most importantly, please come along to support this fun event and raise funds for Templestreet Children’s Hospital and to hopefully raise enough funds to purchase a much-needed defibrillator for our school.

Breakfast and Lunch Update

Hopefully, all our students enjoyed the free breakfast and subsidised healthy dinners last week. From Tuesday, we are moving the free breakfast to 8:30 – 8:45 for a trial period. (It will still be available at 11:00 break but at a cost of €1.50.)

We will subsidise the dinners for the next 2 days and it will then return to its standard charge of €4.
