Parental Access to VSWare – Christmas Reports 2017

All parents/guardians should now have access to our VSware portal. This will allow you access to your child’s records, view their attendance, Behaviour and Term Reports. Please watch this 4 minute video for a clear explanation of how this works. Our VSWare portal is accessed via our website and with a Username and password that has been texted to you. Please keep these details safe. If you have any problems please email vsware@dunmorecs.ie for help.  Please call the office should you need the password sent out again.

NB:- If you have more than 1 child in the school, there will be arrows under your child’s photo to allow you to move between each of your children.

Well done to our TY Debating Team who took part in a debate on Friday with St. Jarlaths. This was their 1st venture into Debating, but they performed excellently. Congrats to Sean Ryan who won best speaker, and Niamh Doorey and Jane Ryder who were on the winning opposition team. Special thanks to Ms Donnellan for all her work with our team and in organising the competition.

TY Swimming Course

Our Transition Year students started their 6 week ‘Jaws’ swimming course today in Coral Leisure, Tuam. This course aims to develop and improve all swimming techniques and strokes with a water safety element important for life skills. A game of water polo finished the class for a very enjoyable January start!

Leaving Cert Christmas Dinner 2017

A little later than planned, our Leaving Certs enjoyed the Annual Christmas Dinner today in the School Auditorium prepared by our LCA students and some TY’s and expertly served by the LCA students and staff of DCS. Luckily, there was plenty left over, so the hardworking LCA class where also able to enjoy the fruits of their labour.

On behalf of the Leaving Certs I’d like to thank all the students and staff involved in planning and preparing today’s lunch. Well done on a job well done.

Trip to Medtronic

Transition Year Students along with their teachers Ms Clesham and Mr Campbell enjoyed a very informative day at Medtronic, Galway recently. They learned about life changing technologies which improve the way diseases are treated. Through practical workshops they were able to find out about products which extend peoples’ lives and take away pain. The students were fascinated with how the company works and learned about possible careers in this area. We are so thankful to Elaine Keaveney and her team for organising such a worthwhile day for the students and for the hospitality shown on the day. It certainly generated a lot of discussion afterwards among the students. It was a privilege for the students and teachers to be able to partake in such an interesting and informative  day at Medtronic.
