Updates on students involvement in competitions etc.
The Inaugural Griffiths Table Tennis Cup was held this evening, the 6th December, in Dunmore Sports Hall. The Leaving Cert Team won 9 of their games, and unfortunately, the Teachers Team only managed to win 7. Both the students, and the teachers have been working hard at training for this for the last few weeks. Well done to the Leaving Cert Team. Congratulation to Patrick Burke, Brackloon, a past student of Dunmore CS.  Patrick was named as the winner in the Teacher Education Category of the prestigious 2012 Undergraduate Awards. Patrick's Paper was entitled “Rewarding Results in Reading, ‘riting and ‘rithmetic: Literacy and Numeracy Today and During Payment-By-Results in Irish Primary Schools (1872-1899). Last year, Trevor Glavey was named winner in the Law category at the 2011 Undergraduate Awards ceremony. Well done to both.

Well done to Rachel Tierney & Olivia Divilly who won the Local Final of the 'Ballinasloe & District Branch' of 'Soroptimist International last night in Ballinasloe. The girls now go forward to the Regional Final in Drogheda on the 4th of February 2012. Well done also to Katie Kirrane, Aisling Kirrane, Laura Raftery, Ciara Kilgarriff and Chloe Donnellan who also did us proud on the night. Well done to Eoghan Hussey, Ballintava, Dunmore who won the East of Scotland Gymnastics Championships with Tuam All Star Gymnastics club. Eoghan is a 3rd Year Student in DCS.
He is now training for European try outs. We wish Eoghan all the best in his endeavor.

Well done to Ronan Gannon from Cloonfad, who is a member of the winning team who won the Mayo area Red Cross competition recently. Ronan is a 3rd Year student in DCS.
He went on to the All Ireland Finals in Wicklow, where he came third in the country.

Paul Clesham,a past pupil of Dunmore Community School has been awarded a Scholarship from University College Cork to Wesleyan University,Middletown,Connecticut for a semester to study music.This is a very prestigious award and Paul is delighted to have become part of the student body at Wesleyan University.He has already completed a year in UCC.Paul has been afforded many opportunities throughout the years through his involvement in music.He is part of the Trad group The Rambling Rogues and has

Our Transition year students will go on Retreat next week with some neighbouring schools. They are also preparing their project for YSI which will take place in Dublin this week.

Well done to Laura-Ann Costello who represented Ireland in the 60m & 200m last weekend in Great Britain. Laura Ann came 5th in the 60m final and won a silver medal in the 200m. We are very proud of her achievements.

Best wishes to Richard Cunningham, who is competing on the Irelands got Talent show this weekend. Richard completed his LC here last June.  Richard won the Dunmore CS X Factor Competition on March 26th 2010 with his fantastic rendition of 'My Way' by Frank Sinatra. Best of Luck Richard.

Congratulation to students Emma Gleeson and Fiona Comer who have not missed a day at school since starting playschool 14 years ago.

The girls will be sitting their Leaving Cert at Dunmore Community School next week.
The girls have clocked up an impressive 2,299 days each in primary and secondary school.
