Gold Winner in Undergraduate Awards - AGAIN

Congratulation to Patrick Burke, Brackloon, a past student of Dunmore CS. Patrick was named as the winner in the Teacher Education Category of the prestigious 2012 Undergraduate Awards.

Patrick's Paper was entitled “Rewarding Results in Reading, ‘riting and ‘rithmetic: Literacy and Numeracy Today and During Payment-By-Results in Irish Primary Schools (1872-1899).

Last year, Trevor Glavey was named winner in the Law category at the 2011 Undergraduate Awards ceremony.

Well done to both.
Basketball Blitz

Thanks to all the primary schools who attended our basketball blitz on Monday. 148 students took part in the event and it was a huge success. Congratulations to the winners, Creggs N.S. (Boys event), Williamstown N.S (girls’ event), Dunmore N.S (Mixes event)
Girls Basketball

Our first & second year girls team are training hard at them moment. Both teams defeated Pres. Tuam last week and will play Glenamaddy and Castlerea in the coming weeks.
Handball Ireland

We recently erected two handball walls in our sport shall and it has become a very popular sport in our school. Darragh Daly (Handball Ireland) and Liam Kelly (Mount Talbot handball Club) visited our school this week to give handball workshops to the boys in school. We were delighted with the visit and proud to show off our skills.

The Anne Flynn Room

The Science Room was recently dedicated to the memory of dear colleague and friend, Mrs Anne Flynn, who sadly died last year.

Anne was a much loved and dedicated teacher of Science and Biology in Dunmore Community School since 1986, and as a result of her passion and committment has inspired many students to pursue a career in Science.

She is sadly missed by her family, colleagues, past and present students and many friends.

May she rest in peace.

Texting Service

The school has recently set up a texting service to notify parents of last minute information, upcoming events etc.

This is now in operation for all years. If you havn't received a text notifying you of the school being closed on Tuesday 8th December, please notify the school as we may not have an up to date mobile number for you.

Please note: It is important that you notify the school if you change your mobile number, as we will be using this service instead of sending notes home
Junior Cert CSPE Project

On the 20th of April, Captain McGovern visited our class as part of our Junior Cert C.S.P.E Project. The preparations began a few weeks ago, when we decided what we, as a class would do for the project. It was decided that Captain McGovern, an Officer from the Irish Defence force, would be the guest speaker for the day.

It all started when were spilt into different committees, such as Set-up, Art, Note Takers, Questions, Welcome, Guidance and Contact groups. Once in our groups, work began

Donation to Dunmore Community School.

The Board of Management, staff and students of Dunmore Community School wish to thank the Joyce family, of Corohan, for a substantial donation they have made to Dunmore Community School.

This donation was made by the Joyce Family in appreciation of the generosity shown to them by the Community in general, following the untimely death of their son Declan in 1996.
