Well done to Rachel Tierney & Olivia Divilly who won the Local Final of the 'Ballinasloe & District Branch' of 'Soroptimist Internationalo last night in Ballinasloe. The girls now go forward to the Regional Final in Drogheda on the 4th of February 2012. Well done also to Katie Kirrane, Aisling Kirrane, Laura Raftery, Ciara Kilgarriff and Chloe Donnellan who also did us proud on the night. Dunmore Community students were presented with their Silver Gaisce Awards by Ray D’Arcy at a presentation ceremony in Trinity College,Dublin. They achieved their awards as a result of taking on a 26 week challenge in the areas of Personal Skill,Physical Recreation and Community Involvement. Their final task was to complete an adventure journey which covered a distance of 60km over 3 days. The students are very proud of their achievements and a number of them are taking on the Gold

Best wishes to Richard Cunningham, who is competing on the Irelands got Talent show this weekend. Richard completed his LC here last June.  Richard won the Dunmore CS X Factor Competition on March 26th 2010 with his fantastic rendition of 'My Way' by Frank Sinatra. Best of Luck Richard.

Congratulation to Declan Glennnon who recently was awarded a GMIT Academic Scholarship in recognition of his excellent achievement in the 2010 Leaving Certificate. Declan is from Pollea, Williamstown, is a past pupil of Dunmore Community School, and is studying a B. Eng in Civil Engineering.
He was presented his award by Mr Michael Hannon, GMIT Registrar.

Kevin Clesham from Annefield, Hollymount, Co.Mayo who attended Dunmore Community School, Co. Galway and is now studying First Medicine at NUI Galway was recently awarded an Entrance Scholarship to NUI Galway. Presenting the Entrance Scholarship scroll and a cheque for €1,700 is NUI Galway President Dr. James J. Browne.

The girls will be sitting their Leaving Cert at Dunmore Community School next week.

The Science Room was recently dedicated to the memory of dear colleague and friend, Mrs Anne Flynn, who sadly died last year. Anne was a much loved and dedicated teacher of Science and Biology in Dunmore Community School since 1986, and as a result of her passion and committment has inspired many students to pursue a career in Science.
